Tom Cruise and Anne Hathaway are set to star in Days of Thunder 2, which is scheduled for release in the summer of 2028.
The engines have been revving for a couple of years, but Tom Cruise has now confirmed that Days of Thunder 2 is set to hit theaters in the summer of 2028, with Anne Hathaway in a key role.
Paramount Pictures announced that Cruise will return as NASCAR driver Cole Trickle from the 1990 racing film. Anne Hathaway (The Odyssey) will portray a team owner and engineer.
Cruise will produce the film alongside the original Days of Thunder producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Tommy Harper. Jonathan Levine (50/50, Warm Bodies) is set to direct from a screenplay by Will Staples (Without Remorse).
Cruise celebrated the announcement with his pregnant co-star in a video message from the racetrack, which you can watch below.

Reuniting Cruise with his Top Gun director Tony Scott, the $60 million budgeted Days of Thunder underperformed at the box office upon its release, earning just $157 million worldwide and receiving harsh criticism for its thinly drawn characters and awkward script.
Next, Cruise will take on world-saving duties in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Digger. In the meantime, let us know if you think Days of Thunder 2 will reach the same success as his last legacy sequel by visiting our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
