Hauntsville is set to introduce the terror of the Old West to Steam this March.
Indie.io has announced the release of Hauntsville, created by independent developer Michael Janisch, on Steam, set for 10th March. This forthcoming survival horror game transports players to the old west, where real and deadly cryptids lurk. A new playable demo on Steam now allows players to get their first glimpse of the Cursed West. Check out the new trailer below...
Hauntsville takes players back to 1897 and the wild west in an open-world survival horror experience, where they will find themselves firing bullets at imagined threats. Assuming the role of an unnamed traveler, players will explore a once-bustling frontier town, quickly realizing that all is not well. There are no horses, no sounds, and no inhabitants; only cryptic notes, mysterious symbols, and a solitary merchant remain. Additionally, eerie howls echo in the darkness, fostering a feeling of being observed.
To survive whatever calamity befell the town's residents, players must scavenge for resources, craft weapons and tools, and establish a stronghold to protect themselves from predators come nightfall. They can defend against the menacing cryptids, spectral entities, and otherworldly foes by using a range of traditional Western firearms, including Colts, Winchester rifles, and lever-action rifles. However, players must be strategic, ensuring every shot counts.
Exploring the game world is crucial, as many locations contain both peril and potential. If players are courageous enough to confront the dangers, they can discover supplies, resources, food, and more. Additionally, it's not only the creatures they should watch out for; the valley is dynamic and constantly changes, bringing sudden storms, thick fog, and even blizzards that can obscure paths. As these shifts occur, new threats will emerge, requiring players to adapt to ensure their survival.
For those who find the experience too frightening to tackle alone, they can team up with up to three friends in an online co-op mode to gather resources, uncover the valley's mysteries, and fight off the creatures together.
Hauntsville will be available on Steam on 10th March, but you can visit the game's Steam page now to dive into the horror with the new demo.
