With just four days left until the US and UK release of The Baby in the Basket (which The Guardian described as “low-budget nun fun” in a recent review), Rapid Trailers has unveiled the first clip from this gothic horror feature film.

Titled 'Baptised By Blood,' the clip features Mother Superior, played by Maryam d’Abo, along with Sisters Eleanor and Valerine, portrayed by Michaela Longden and Elle O'Hara, respectively, as they hold a Christening for the baby at the center of the story.       Set in 1944 during the ongoing World War II, the nuns of St. Augustine’s, a convent on a secluded Scottish island, are bracing for an impending storm. One night, a cloaked figure abandons a baby in a basket and vanishes without a trace.

The nuns take the boy in, agreeing to care for him until the storm subsides, at which point they plan to send him to the mainland for permanent care. However, after just one night under their supervision, unsettling incidents begin to occur involving the newest member of the convent. Sister Agnes (Amber Doig-Thorne) becomes convinced that the child is the offspring of Satan, leading to her confinement due to fears that isolation has driven her to madness.

Yet, as increasingly bizarre events unfold, the sisters begin to question their faith and what they hold true. They ponder whether Sister Agnes has succumbed to the isolation of the desolate island or if there is truth in her alarming concerns.

The Baby in the Basket is scheduled to be released in the UK and US on Monday, February 17th, 2025, and features a cast that includes Amber Doig-Thorne (Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey), Michaela Longden (How to Kill Monsters), Elle O’Hara (Cara), Lisa Riesner (No Dogs Allowed), Nathan Shepka (When Darkness Falls), Annabelle Lanyon (Legend), Maryam d’Abo (The Living Daylights), and Paul Barber (The Full Monty).
