Robert Pattinson discloses the start date for production of The Batman Part II.

For Batman enthusiasts, the wait has felt lengthy as Matt Reeves' The Batman Part II has undergone multiple release date changes, with the most recent adjustment pushing it to October 1st, 2027. Following this delay, the burning question has been when production will kick off, and we may have received an update from the film’s lead actor.

Robert Pattinson will return as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the highly anticipated sequel, but first, he is involved in Parasite director Bong Joon Ho’s new project, Mickey 17. At the film's London premiere, Pattinson briefly chatted with Variety regarding The Batman Part II and indicated that production is slated to start at the end of the year.

"I think at the end of the year? And I know what it’s about but I can’t tell anyone, but it’s like, it’s very cool. It’s very exciting,” Pattinson mentioned.

Released in 2022, The Batman depicted Batman's early days as a crimefighter, focusing on his pursuit of a serial killer known as The Riddler, who was targeting corrupt officials in a vast conspiracy. Among the cast, only Pattinson and Zoë Kravitz, who portrayed Selina Kyle/Catwoman, are confirmed to return for the sequel, though we can expect other familiar faces as well.

Despite the lengthy wait for The Batman Part II, Reeves and his team have provided some content in the form of HBO’s The Penguin, a spin-off series set a week after the events of The Batman. This series features Colin Farrell reprising his role as Oswald Cobb/The Penguin as he schemes to rise through Gotham City's underworld amidst the power vacuum following Carmine Falcone's death.

Alongside Farrell in The Penguin is Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone, Carmine’s daughter, who also seeks control of the criminal organization. Both Farrell and Milioti garnered multiple nominations at various awards, including wins at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards and a win for Farrell at the Golden Globes.

The Batman Part II is scheduled to premiere on October 1st, 2027.
