Catherine Zeta-Jones will lead the cast in the thriller series Kill Jackie.
Academy Award, BAFTA, and Tony Award-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones is set to star in a new series based on Aidan Truhen’s “gonzo thriller” The Price You Pay, which is currently operating under the title Kill Jackie.
According to Deadline, the series will be produced for Prime Video, Fremantle, and Steel Springs Pictures. Amazon holds rights in several European regions, including the UK, Ireland, and Germany, while Fremantle will handle international sales excluding the U.S.
In the series, Zeta-Jones portrays Jackie Price, who has enjoyed a luxurious lifestyle for the past two decades—traveling the globe, selling fine art with the help of clever tax loopholes, and, most importantly, maintaining her anonymity after fleeing a perilous past as an international cocaine dealer. However, just as her life becomes somewhat monotonous, a deadly twist occurs when she learns that The Seven Demons, a group of the most feared hitmen in the world, have been contracted to kill her.
Zeta-Jones expressed her excitement, stating: "I’m thrilled to be a part of Kill Jackie (w/t) both behind and in front of the camera. The chance to bring this complex character to life and delve into a female-centric story centered on empowerment, identity, and redemption is something I’m eagerly anticipating."
Kill Jackie, directed by Damon Thomas, is created by Tom Butterworth and Conor Keane of Gangs of London. Filming will commence next month in Bilbao, Lisbon, London, and Swansea.
