Spike Lee Reveals First Look at Highest 2 Lowest and Confirms Release for Summer 2025.

Spike Lee's significant year has begun on a high note at the Super Bowl, where he highlighted one of his most underrated films. The director is currently wrapping up his first narrative feature in five years, expected to make its debut at Cannes. Titled Highest 2 Lowest, this film is a reimagining of Akira Kurosawa's High and Low and marks a reunion with Denzel Washington, who has worked with Lee on Mo’ Better Blues, Malcolm X, He Got Game, and Inside Man. With a confirmed summer release approaching, the filmmaker has released the first look.

In the image shared below, Lee features A$AP Rocky in the film, coinciding with the artist and actor's recent not-guilty verdict in his assault trial. The cast also includes Ilfenesh Hadera, Jeffrey Wright, and Ice Spice. The screenplay is co-written by Alan Fox and Spike Lee, and the project is produced by Apple Original Films and A24. Loosely based on Ed McBain’s novel King’s Ransom, the original film featured Toshiro Mifune as a wealthy industrialist whose family falls victim to a merciless kidnapper.
