Krypto shorts will act as a supplementary element to James Gunn's Superman.
Krypto has become the focal point of the Superman marketing campaign, playing a significant role in James Gunn’s version of the character. Gunn is set to offer fans more of Krypto in a series of upcoming shorts that will accompany the new film. According to ComicBook, Gunn has announced that these Krypto shorts will debut later this year, with four shorts confirmed to begin in the fall.
“We’ve got these fantastic little Krypto shorts that are incredibly entertaining. I’ve been watching all of them,” Gunn shared. “He’s a truly awful dog. It’s aimed at families and is just really enjoyable and silly. It’s pretty awesome. It’s definitely the Krypto you’ll fall in love with in Superman.”
DC Studios co-chair Peter Safran concurs, saying, “He’s a terrible dog.”
It remains uncertain whether David Corenswet’s Superman/Clark Kent will feature in these shorts, but they should definitely provide an entertaining addition to this newly established franchise reboot.
Superman narrates the journey of the title character as he seeks to balance his Kryptonian roots with his human upbringing as Clark Kent from Smallville, Kansas. He represents truth, justice, and the American way, embodying human kindness in a world that often views such kindness as outdated.
The film stars David Corenswet (Twisters) in the dual roles of Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan (I’m Your Woman) as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult (Nosferatu) as Lex Luthor. Additional cast members include Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Sara Sampaio, Maria Gabriela de Faria, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Neva Howell, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe.
Superman is set to premiere in U.S. theaters on July 11, 2025, and internationally on July 9, 2025.
