Matthew Lillard signs on for season 2 of Marvel's Daredevil: Born Again.
Although "Daredevil: Born Again" is set to premiere in just a few days, Marvel Studios is already gearing up for a second season, with production kicking off next week. As part of this preparation, Marvel has revealed its first casting announcement, with Deadline reporting that Matthew Lillard from "Scream" will be joining the cast.
While details about Lillard’s character remain a secret for now, he will appear alongside returning stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, as "Born Again" continues the narrative from Netflix’s "Daredevil" series. Cox and D’Onofrio have previously appeared in the MCU, with Cox featuring in "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and "She-Hulk," and D’Onofrio in "Hawkeye" and "Echo."
Additionally, Lillard is set to return to the "Scream" franchise in "Scream 7" as Stu Macher, although the specifics of his role are uncertain given the fate of Stu in the original film. He will also appear next in Mike Flanagan’s "The Life of Chuck" and the sequel to Universal’s "Five Nights at Freddy’s."
In "Daredevil: Born Again," Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind attorney with enhanced abilities, is advocating for justice through his busy law firm, while former mob leader Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) is pursuing his own political ambitions in New York. As their pasts start to resurface, both characters are headed for a significant confrontation.
The series features a cast that includes Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Margarita Levieva, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini, Ayelet Zurer, and Jon Bernthal.
"Daredevil: Born Again" will be available to stream on Disney+ starting March 4th.
