Nick Frost is in negotiations to play the role of Hagrid in the Harry Potter TV series.
As casting progresses for the forthcoming Harry Potter TV series, it appears that Max may have secured its Rubeus Hagrid for the eagerly awaited adaptation. Deadline has reported that Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Truth Seekers) is in final negotiations to take on the role of the kind-hearted half-giant.
If an agreement is finalized, Frost would be taking on the significant legacy of the late Robbie Coltrane, who famously depicted Hagrid in all eight of Warner Bros.' Harry Potter films.
Max has not yet made any official statements regarding the casting news for the series, although it has been claimed that John Lithgow will portray Professor Albus Dumbledore, with Janet McTeer as Professor Minerva McGonagall and Paapa Essiedu as Professor Severus Snape. Additionally, a worldwide casting call was conducted for the series' young lead roles, with over 32,000 children reportedly auditioning.
Filming for the Harry Potter series is scheduled to begin this summer, with Francesca Gardiner (Succession, His Dark Materials, Killing Eve) as showrunner and Mark Mylod (Succession, Game of Thrones, The Last of Us) directing several episodes.
