Netflix's Heartstopper will conclude with a feature film finale.
After three seasons, Netflix has revealed that its beloved series Heartstopper will conclude with a feature film finale, inspired by the yet-to-be-released sixth volume of Alice Oseman's graphic novel series. The film will be directed by Wash Westmoreland (Still Alice, Colette), with a script written by Oseman. Kit Connor and Joe Locke are set to reprise their roles as Nick and Charlie and will also serve as executive producers.
"I am absolutely thrilled that we will have the opportunity to tell the conclusion of the Heartstopper story," Oseman expressed. "I’m incredibly thankful to everyone who has worked tirelessly to make this happen and to the amazing fans of Heartstopper for your understanding and enthusiasm. I can’t wait to bring this story to a enchanting close."
The feature film's synopsis states: "Nick and Charlie are inseparable, yet as Nick prepares to head off to university and Charlie discovers new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship starts to weigh on them. Doubts arise, presenting their relationship with its greatest challenge. Meanwhile, their friends are also facing the highs and lows of love and friendship, tackling the bittersweet trials of growing up and moving forward. Can first loves truly last forever?"
Filming for the Heartstopper movie is set to start in the summer, with a projected release in 2026.
