Matthew Goode stars as the head of Dept. Q in the trailer for Netflix's upcoming detective series.
Netflix has released a poster and trailer for Dept. Q, a British crime thriller series created by Scott Frank, the writer and director of The Queen’s Gambit.
Based on Jussi Adler-Olsen’s Nordic noir Department Q book series, it centers on DCI Carl Morck (Matthew Goode), a talented yet difficult police officer assigned to lead a new department made up of an unlikely collection of misfits as they work to solve cold cases in Edinburgh. Watch the trailer below…
DCI Carl Morck is an outstanding detective but a poor teammate. His sharp sarcasm hasn’t won him any friends in the Edinburgh Police. After a shooting incident that results in the death of a young PC and leaves his partner paralyzed, he is relegated to the basement as the only member of Dept. Q, a newly established cold case unit. This department serves as a PR façade to divert the public’s attention from the struggles of an underfunded, failing police force that is pleased to be rid of him. However, somewhat unexpectedly, Carl begins to gather a group of outcasts who have much to prove. When the cold case of a notable civil servant who vanished years ago begins to show signs of life, Carl returns to his element—shaking things up and insisting on answers.
Dept. Q will be available on Netflix starting May 29th.
