Toaplan Arcade Shoot 'Em Up Collection Vol 1 & 2 delivers classic SHMUPs to gaming consoles.

      Japanese video game publisher TATSUJIN has revealed that they will be releasing the ultimate collection of the celebrated shoot ’em up games from the renowned arcade developer TOAPLAN on August 14th. The Toaplan Arcade Shoot ‘Em Up Collection Volumes 1 & 2 will be launched digitally on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, while a physical edition will be available for PS5.       During the 1980s and 1990s, TOAPLAN developed a number of outstanding shoot ’em ups for arcades, many of which gained such popularity that they were released internationally on contemporary gaming systems. This August, these games (including some with their international versions) will be accessible for both retro game enthusiasts and newcomers.

      These iconic arcade titles will incorporate all the modern features that contemporary games offer, courtesy of Bitwave Games. Such features include Achievements and Trophies, a Rewind option to rectify unfortunate mistakes, Save/Load capabilities, Stat Tracking, Dip Switches to emulate customizable arcade settings, online leaderboards, and Assist features like reduced hitboxes and increased player durability.

      The TOAPLAN Arcade Collection Vol. 1 will feature the following classic games:

      - Flying Shark

      - Fire Shark

      - Tiger Heli

      - Twin Cobra

      - Out Zone

      - Fixeight

      - Batsugun

      - Dogyuun

      Not to mention Dogyuun in all its explosive glory, and Flying Shark (which I initially played on the ZX Spectrum).

      TOAPLAN Arcade Collection Vol. 2 will include additional classic shoot ’em ups, such as:

      - Zero Wing

      - Hellfire

      - Slap Fight

      - Grind Stormer

      - Truxton

      - Truxton II

      - Vimana

      - Twin Hawk

      - Grindstormer
