Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks prepares for its full release with an exciting new trailer.
PLAION and Wired Productions have revealed that Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks will officially launch on Steam during the Warhammer Skulls festival on May 22nd of this year. With this launch, the publishing duties will transfer from PLAION to Wired Productions, who had previously collaborated with developer Caged Element on GRIP: Combat Racing in 2018.
The switch in publishers brings significant changes to the game, the most notable being the removal of the free-to-play model. Players will no longer enhance the game only to encounter a paywall for much of the content; instead, it will be offered at an affordable price with the majority of content included. There will be several new DLC packs available at launch as well. As a gesture of gratitude for their support during the Early Access phase, Early Access players will receive the complete 1.0 update at no charge.
Additional benefits of the game's transition from free-to-play include the introduction of private games, a new Free-Roam mode to explore any map, and the elimination of the previously mandatory 3rd party PROS account.
Version 1.0 will also signal the end of in-game microtransactions. Players who earned or purchased the Teef in-game currency during the early access period will be able to use it for 12 months, but the in-game store will no longer be available to general players. Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks is set to launch on May 22nd at a special introductory price of £12.79/ €15.99/ $15.99.
