Olivia Cooke will take over from Maika Monroe in the vampire thriller Brides.
Chloe Ukuno's upcoming vampire-themed film, Brides, has undergone a change in its lead actress. Makia Monroe, known for her roles in It Follows and Longlegs, has had to exit the project, and Olivia Cooke, recognized for her work in House of the Dragon, will now take on her part.
Monroe is also set to headline the adaptation of Colleen Hoover's novel Reminders of Him, creating a scheduling conflict that prevented her from participating in both films. Consequently, she stepped away from Okuno's film, allowing Neon to cast Cooke in the leading role.
Brides will center around Sally Bishop (Cooke) and her husband as they travel to a remote villa in Italy, where the enigmatic owner, a count, becomes unusually interested in Sally.
The screenplay was penned by Okuno, marking her second feature film following the horror movie Watcher released in 2022. Additionally, Okuno has directed a segment in V/H/S/94 and episodes of Let The Right One In and Teacup.
Cooke is currently in the midst of filming the third season of HBO's Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, where she portrays Queen Alicent Hightower. She has just completed shooting for Amazon's series, Girlfriend.
