Holt McCallany hints at the possibility of a trilogy of films based on David Fincher's Mindhunter.

      Fans of David Fincher have long desired another season of Netflix's Mindhunter, but it has always seemed elusive. Recently, one of the actors from the series proposed a concept for revisiting that unsettling universe.

      Star Holt McCallany, while promoting his show The Waterfront with CBR, shared an idea for bringing more Mindhunter to life—a trilogy of films. "I had a meeting with David Fincher in his office a few months back, and he mentioned there’s a possibility it could come back as three two-hour movies, but it’s just a possibility," McCallany stated. "I know that there are writers working on it, but ultimately, David needs to be satisfied with the scripts."

      "I would love for it to return," he added. "He gave me a glimmer of hope during our meeting, but everything has to align perfectly… It really depends on whether David has the time, the desire, and is pleased with the material. That’s a significant unknown."

      Mindhunter featured Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, and Anna Torv, with Fincher serving as showrunner for the two seasons, directing seven of the nineteen episodes.

      Fincher is currently in pre-production for his next project with Quentin Tarantino, The Adventures of Cliff Booth, where Brad Pitt will reprise his role from Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The sequel is expected to begin filming later this year, with Fincher directing from Tarantino's script.
