Outlander: Blood of My Blood has received an early renewal for season 2.

Prior to the debut of the prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood this August, Starz has already renewed the show for a second season, with production currently taking place in Scotland.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood explores parallel narratives centered on the love stories of Claire and Jamie Fraser’s parents during World War I and in 18th century Scotland. Matthew B. Roberts will serve as the showrunner, while Ronald D. Moore, the creator of Outlander, will act as the executive producer.

“The dedication and talent demonstrated by our cast and crew on Outlander: Blood of My Blood have been remarkable, and we’re excited to carry on these epic love stories into Season Two,” Roberts stated. “Just as audiences fell for Jamie and Claire, we hope that viewers will be captivated by these new couples when they meet them this summer.”

Outlander is adapted from the historical fantasy novels by Diana Gabaldon and premiered in 2014. The series recounts the story of Claire Randall, a nurse in post-World War II England, who travels with her husband to Scotland and inadvertently gets transported back to 18th century Scotland, where she falls for the highlander Jamie Fraser as the Jacobite rising commences. Their romance transcends centuries as their family moves between different time periods and eventually becomes embroiled in the American Revolution.

Outlander concluded its eighth and final season last September, with a premiere date anticipated for next year. Outlander: Blood of My Blood is set to premiere on August 8th.

This prequel introduces two new couples — Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine), along with Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) — who strive to be together against all odds as their love stories develop across time. From the fronts of World War I to the rugged Highlands of 18th century Scotland, these destined love stories must overcome the obstacles that threaten to separate them, intertwining in unexpected and surprising ways.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood features actors Harriet Slater, Jamie Roy, Hermione Corfield, Jeremy Irvine, Rory Alexander, Sam Retford, Séamus McLean Ross, Conor MacNeill, Brian McCardie, Jhon Lumsden, Sara Vickers, Peter Mullan, Sally Messham, Terence Rae, Sadhbh Malin, Ailsa Davidson, Annabelle Dowler, and Harry Eaton.
