Charlie Sheen Reveals Everything in Netflix Documentary titled Charlie Sheen

It's difficult to envision Charlie Sheen having any further revelations about himself, but the upcoming Netflix documentary titled aka Charlie Sheen suggests that the former star of Two and a Half Men has additional insights to share.

“Shame is suffocating,” Sheen states in the trailer. “I ignited the fuse, and my life became everything it was never meant to be.”

This new Netflix documentary aims to clarify Sheen’s chaotic life. The tagline for aka Charlie Sheen asserts, “This is not a comeback. It’s a revelation.”

The press release for the film, set to premiere on Netflix on September 10, claims, “Tabloid black hole Charlie Sheen knows what has been said about him, and he is finally prepared to confess.”

aka Charlie Sheen features interviews with Sheen’s former partners Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller, as well as Sean Penn, his Two and a Half Men co-star Jon Cryer, his brother Ramon Estevez, and former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss. Additionally, the press release mentions interviews with Sheen’s former “drug dealer Marco.”

The release also states that Sheen, who notoriously boasted about his cocaine use in 2011, now possesses a “stunning clarity earned through seven years of sobriety.” The documentary is said to depict “a flawed man whose tendency for self-destruction ultimately cannot overcome the fierce love and forgiveness he evokes in those closest to him.”

Directed by Andrew Renzi (Pepsi, Where’s My Jet?), the film is set to explore Sheen’s “upbringing in Malibu, his effortless ascent to megastardom, and his dramatic decline, all in the public eye.”

Sheen, the son of Martin Sheen, gained fame with notable films such as Oliver Stone’s Platoon and Wall Street, becoming one of Hollywood’s most sought-after young talents in the '80s. He later transitioned to a more comedic role in the Hot Shots films that spoofed Top Gun.

Hot Shots paired him with Cryer, another star from the '80s, leading to their collaboration on Two and a Half Men, a massive success for CBS that debuted in 2003. At one point, Sheen was the highest-paid actor on television for his portrayal of the charming, indulgent Charlie Harper, reportedly earning $1.8 million per episode.

However, everything unraveled in 2011 when Sheen made negative remarks about the show's co-creator, Chuck Lorre, which resulted in his firing. He spent much of that year on a publicity spree, which included entering rehab, popularizing the phrases “tiger blood” and “winning,” and claiming to be living with two women he referred to as “goddesses,” both of whom eventually departed.

Eventually, things stabilized. He starred in FX’s series Anger Management starting in 2012.

In 2015, Sheen revealed that he was HIV positive, a disclosure credited with prompting a rise in HIV testing called “the Charlie Sheen effect.”

In recent years, he has made guest appearances on Lorre’s Max series Bookie.
