Kristen Wiig is set to join Masters of the Universe in the role of Roboto.
With the highly awaited Masters of the Universe feature film currently in post-production, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed an additional cast member: Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids) will contribute her voice to the character Roboto.
Roboto, an ally of He-Man—who will be portrayed by Nicholas Galitzine—was “created by Man-at-Arms and is part of a group known as the Heroic Warriors.” This character has a distinctive look compared to other Masters of the Universe characters, featuring “a transparent metal body that reveals its inner mechanisms. Roboto also possesses one arm with interchangeable attachments, like a claw, laser gun, or axe.”
Masters of the Universe is inspired by the popular Mattel toyline from the 1980s, which led to the animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and the original live-action movie starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank Langella as the villain Skeletor.
A new Masters of the Universe film has undergone various production phases for several years, with Noah Centineo previously attached to play He-Man. The movie will be helmed by Travis Knight (Bumblebee) from a script by Chris Butler. Producing entities include Mattel Studios, Amazon MGM, and Escape Artists.
The film will showcase Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man alongside Camila Mendes as Teela, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, Jon Xue Zhang as Ram-Man, Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Fisto, James Purefoy as King Randor, Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena, and Kristen Wiig voicing Roboto.
Masters of the Universe is scheduled to premiere on June 5th, 2026.
