Dafne Keen and Saara Chaudry join the cast of season 3 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Though the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is set to debut in a few months, filming for the third season has already commenced, and there has been a major update regarding its cast.
Disney announced today that Dafne Keen (from Logan) and Saara Chaudry (from The Muppets Mayhem) have joined the cast as Artemis, the goddess of the moon and hunt, and Zoë Nightshade, the leader of the Hunters of Artemis, respectively.
Artemis “favours the liberty of the wild over the politics and rituals of Olympus. Her immortal hunters accompany her constantly, and she has minimal interaction with mortals, causing her to be somewhat disconnected from contemporary human culture. She is dignified and a noble warrior, prepared to face serious challenges.”
Zoë Nightshade is described as the “dedicated lieutenant to Artemis and foremost among the immortal hunters. She has been with Artemis for over 2,000 years. As a formidable warrior, she can be overly serious at times, which provides amusement to the demigods, but she is also an essential part of quests, willing to fight and sacrifice for the greater good.”
The third season will adapt the third book from Rick Riordan’s fantasy series, The Titan’s Curse, in which Percy and his companions must thwart Kronos and his army from capturing demigod siblings Nico and Bianca di Angelo, portrayed by Levi Chrisopulos and Olive Abercrombie.
Currently, production on Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 3 is taking place in Vancouver. Percy returns to Camp Half-Blood a year later to find his life completely changed. His relationship with Annabeth is evolving, he discovers he has a cyclops brother, Grover is missing, and camp is under attack by Kronos's forces. Percy’s quest to restore order will lead him into the perilous Sea of Monsters, where his destiny awaits as the son of Poseidon.
The series features Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue, Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan, Virginia Kull as Sally Jackson, Glynn Turman as Chiron, and Toby Stephens as Poseidon. Season two will also introduce Daniel Diemer, Timothy Simons, Tamara Smart, Sandra Bernhard, Kristen Schaal, Margaret Cho, and Andra Day, with Courtney B. Vance stepping into the role of Zeus following the passing of Lance Reddick.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 is set to premiere on December 10th.
