20 Behind-the-Scenes Photos of Bond Girls
Bond girls are just as integral to the 007 films as James Bond himself. Here are 20 Bond girls featured behind the scenes.
Whether acting in their own interest, representing their home countries, or occasionally assisting James Bond, these women bring intrigue, sophistication, and high stakes to stories filled with glamour and espionage. (We acknowledge that the term “Bond girls” is outdated, but it has become part of cinematic language — it even has its own Wikipedia page.)
As we look forward to the upcoming Bond film directed by Denis Villeneuve, let’s revisit some of the women who left a lasting impression in previous James Bond movies.
Ursula Andress as Honey Ryder in Dr No (1962)

Although Sylvia Trench and Miss Taro appeared before her, Honey Ryder, a Jamaican shell diver portrayed by a dubbed Ursula Andress, is often regarded as the first Bond girl.
Her memorable entry in Dr. No, where she emerges from the water wearing a white bikini and belt while carrying shells, has made a lasting impact.
The chemistry between her and Bond serves as a key element in Dr. No, the film that launched one of the most successful and enduring film franchises.
Daniela Bianchi as Tatiana Romanova in From Russia With Love (1963)

The first sequel in the Bond series features Bond traveling to Turkey to assist Soviet consulate clerk Tatiana Romanova, played by Daniela Bianchi, alongside Connery.
As expected in a Bond film, their connection sparks tension. However, Tatiana is a pawn in SPECTRE's scheme for revenge against Bond for events in Dr. No, though she eventually plays a pivotal role in the story.
Before becoming a celebrated Bond girl, she was Miss Universo Italia and the first runner-up at Miss Universe 1960. In 1967, she starred alongside Connery’s brother, Neil Connery, in the Bond spoof Operation Kid Brother.
Honor Blackman as Ms. Galore in Goldfinger (1963)

Honor Blackman, who rehearsed a notorious fight scene with Sean Connery, may have the most recognizable name among Bond girls — a name we might hesitate to mention due to the sensibilities of some partners we syndicate with.
Nonetheless, Blackman, who gained fame from the TV show The Avengers, stands out as one of the most iconic Bond girls, a woman who could easily hold her own against Bond or anyone else.
Shirley Eaton as Jill Masterson in Goldfinger (1964)

Shirley Eaton took on the role of Jill Masterson, the aide to the villain that gives Goldfinger its name. After a night spent with Bond, she becomes the victim of a grim and colorful revenge: being killed through "skin suffocation" as a result of being covered in gold paint.
This iconic moment was significant enough to land Eaton on the cover of LIFE magazine on November 6, 1964.
For those curious, applying all that gold paint took about 90 minutes, a task that makeup artist Paul Rabiger, who also worked on Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, and From Russia With Love, managed.
Claudine Auger as Domino in Thunderball (1965)

Claudine Auger received the titles of Miss France Monde 1958 and was a first runner-up in the 1958 Miss World competition before landing the role of Dominique "Domino" Derval in Thunderball, the fourth Bond film.
Her chemistry with Sean Connery, both on-screen and off, is quite evident.
Auger later appeared in the 1966 WWII drama Triple Cross and in 1968, she starred alongside fellow Bond girl Ursula Andress in the Italian comedy Anyone Can Play.
Luciana Paluzzi as Fiona Volpe in Thunderball (1965)

Luciana Paluzzi’s portrayal of SPECTRE agent Fiona Volpe helped establish the archetype for the Bond femme fatale, making her one of the fiercest early Bond girls.
Her subsequent roles included a Southern belle in the 1974 film The Klansman — where her voice was dubbed — under the direction of Thunderball’s Terence Young.
Diana Rigg as Tracy di Vicenzo in Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969)

Diana Rigg (left) is arguably one of the most famous Bond girls, having already gained fame as the star of The Avengers when she was cast alongside George Lazenby in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Lazenby, a model from Australia, portrayed Bond only once before Connery returned in Diamonds Are Forever.
Rigg also holds the distinction of being the only woman to marry Bond, though tragically, she was murdered shortly after their wedding, making On Her Majesty’s Secret Service perhaps the most disheartening of all Bond films.
