Initial Glimpse of Riley Keough in Albert Serra's Out of This World

Initial Glimpse of Riley Keough in Albert Serra's Out of This World

Following one of the standout films of the decade with *Pacifiction* and a top documentary of this year with *Afternoons of Solitude*, Albert Serra is already in post-production on his upcoming feature, *Out of This World*. The film, led by Riley Keough and featuring F. Murray Abraham, Evgenyia Gromova, and Liza Yankovskaia, has had its first image disclosed by Variety.

The synopsis reads: “*Out of This World* centers on an American delegation visiting Russia amid the Ukrainian war, as they strive to address a growing economic conflict. The project explores the long-standing rivalry between Russia and the United States, combining Serra’s unique cinematic style with a gripping contemporary geopolitical story.”

It has also been disclosed that Serra recorded approximately 800 hours of footage during a four-week shoot in Latvia this past summer. The film is produced by Les Films du Losange, Idéale Audience Group, and Andergraun Films, in collaboration with Felix Culpa, and co-produced by Rosa Filmes and Pandora Film. A return to Cannes for the director is anticipated.

Serra discussed the project with us in 2024, stating, “It’s very significant, but it’s also a contentious topic since it involves Russia, the United States, and their perpetual rivalry. However, like all my films, it’s both quite serious and slightly whimsical.”
