Hot Toys has revealed a sixth scale figure of Japanese Spider-Man.
Following closely on the heels of yesterday's Amazing Spider-Man announcement, we now have a glimpse at another of Hot Toys' sixth scale figures inspired by the 70s, featuring Japanese Spider-Man. This figure showcases Takuya Yamashiro, the main character from the cult 1970s Toei live-action series, receiving the deluxe action figure treatment. Check it out here…
In the 1978 Japanese television series Spider-Man, a young motorcyclist named Takuya Yamashiro (played by Shinji Tôdô) discovers a crashed spaceship and encounters Garia, the last survivor from Planet Spider. After receiving Garia's blood and being given the mystical Spider Bracelet, Takuya acquires remarkable spider-like powers and access to the Spider Protector suit, which instantly envelops him when the bracelet is activated. In addition to his abilities, his bracelet can generate webbing, summon his flying vehicle (Spider Machine GP-7), or call forth the giant robot Leopardon to protect Earth from the evil Iron Cross Army led by Professor Monster.
Hot Toys is excited to introduce the 1/6th scale Spider-Man Collectible Figure, expertly designed to embody the essence of this distinctive Japanese Spider-Man. This exclusive figure is limited to just 1,500 units in select markets. It showcases a newly crafted masked head featuring detailed nose and mouth features. He wears the iconic Spider Protector one-piece suit made from elastic fabric, complemented by his signature Spider Bracelet on his wrist. The figure includes eleven interchangeable hands that allow for a variety of poses, ranging from classic fist fights and wall-crawling to web-slinging and dramatic expressions.
Additionally, the figure comes with several webbing effects, including a short and a flexible long strand of spider webs, along with an open spider web. A graphic card featuring the TV series logo and a specially crafted figure stand complete the collection, making this a fitting tribute to an extraordinary version of Spider-Man. Whether you're a Tokusatsu enthusiast who appreciates the nostalgic appeal of the 70s or intrigued by alternative Spider-Man stories, this figure is an essential addition from a uniquely imaginative era in Spider-Man's legacy.
