Jessica Chastain Embarks on a Risky Relationship in the Initial Trailer for Michel Franco's Dreams.

After collaborating on Memory, Michel Franco and Jessica Chastain have come together again for Dreams, which premiered at Berlinale earlier this year and is set to hit theaters on February 27 through Greenwich Entertainment. In anticipation of its release, the first trailer for the film has been unveiled, featuring Isaác Hernández, Rupert Friend, Marshall Bell, Eligio Meléndez, and Mercedes Hernández.

Here’s the synopsis: “A powerful socialite (Academy Award® winner Jessica Chastain) embarks on a risky affair with a talented ballet dancer (Isaac Hernández). When he unlawfully crosses the US-Mexico border, she takes desperate steps to secure their future together. This tense, erotic drama is directed by the renowned Michel Franco (Memory, New Order).”

In her review for Berlinale, Savina Petkova remarked, “Certain images have become inherently metonymic, reflecting today's political issues with minimal context required. The film opens with one such shot: a massive truck left abandoned beside a railway, emblematic of illegal border-crossing. It reverberates with the cries of those trapped inside, pleading for assistance; one can already foresee the dire circumstances awaiting the fugitives once the police force their way in. Amidst the turmoil, one of those ‘illegals’ manages to break free: a young, robust man (Isaác Hernández) whose resolve is evident in every step he takes along that lonely road. His identity is unknown, yet he clearly knows his destination, exuding a fierceness that overshadows the pain he is enduring.”
