Dexter Morgan has identified his next target as Brian Cox (Succession) joins the cast of Dexter: Resurrection for its second season. Cox will portray Don Frampt, also known as the New York Ripper. Although he wasn't introduced in the first season, he was frequently referenced as a former member of Leon Prater’s serial killer club and as the elusive case Detective Claudette Wallace has been unable to solve. After Dexter left Prater’s mansion, he took all the files Prater had on his serial killers from the past, planning to enact his own form of justice, with the Ripper at the forefront of his agenda.

Cox will have a regular role in the second season as the retired Ripper. “Although he is no longer an active killer, he has found new ways to embrace his notoriety by continuing to taunt the survivors of his historic murder spree.”

Dexter: Resurrection was created by Clyde Phillips, the showrunner from the original series. The story occurs several weeks after Dexter: New Blood, where Dexter survived being shot and traveled to New York City to locate his son Harrison. During this time, he encounters a gathering of serial killers who convene annually, while his former friend Angel Batista, now suspicious of his identity as the Bay Harbor Butcher, is on his trail.

The cast includes Michael C. Hall reprising his iconic role as Dexter Morgan, with Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Kadia Saraf as Detective Claudette Wallace, Dominic Fumusa as Detective Melvin Oliva, Emilia Suárez as Elsa Rivera, and James Remar as Dexter’s father, Harry Morgan. It's unclear if Uma Thurman, who played Charley, the head of security for Prater, will return, as well as Eric Stonestreet’s Gareth/Rapunzel, who was the only member of the group to escape Dexter’s grasp.

Dexter: Resurrection is set weeks after Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) is shot in the chest by his own son and awakens from a coma to find Harrison (Jack Alcott) has vanished without a trace. Understanding the consequences of his actions on his son, Dexter embarks on a journey to New York City, driven to find him and rectify things. However, achieving closure proves difficult. When Miami Metro’s Angel Batista (David Zayas) shows up with questions, Dexter realizes that his past is rapidly closing in on him. As father and son navigate their struggles in the city that never sleeps, they soon discover they are deeper in trouble than they anticipated—and that their only escape is together.
