MGM+ has released the first teaser trailer for The Westies, an upcoming crime drama focused on a violent Irish gang in 1980s New York. Created by Chris Brancato and Michael Panes (Godfather of Harlem), the series features Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons alongside a cast that includes Titus Welliver, Tom Brittney, Stanley Morgan, Sarah Bolger, and Jessica Frances Dukes. You can watch the trailer below…
The Westies presents a raw and dynamic crime drama centered on the notorious Irish gang of the same name in New York City. Set in the early 1980s, the construction of the Jacob Javits Convention Center in the Westies’ home area of Hell’s Kitchen heralds a financial opportunity. Despite being heavily outnumbered by the Five Families of the Italian Mafia, the Westies’ notorious brutality and intelligence give them the ability to negotiate a precarious peace in sharing the newfound wealth. However, tensions between the bold younger members and the traditional leadership threaten to ignite conflict, drawing the Westies deeper into the FBI's ongoing probe into the Italian mafia.
The Westies will premiere on July 12th.
