Zach Cregger from Weapons will write a Siren Head film for Warner Bros.
Warner Bros. are looking to capitalize on a meme in hopes of discovering the next surprise success and have brought in Weapons and Resident Evil director Zach Cregger to write a film based on the Siren Head phenomenon.
With Backrooms attracting a previously unseen Gen Z audience to theaters, studios are eager to engage this demographic. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. has secured the rights to the viral sensation Siren Head after a fiercely competitive bidding process.
Additionally, they have brought aboard rising horror director Cregger to write the film in collaboration with Whalefall director Brian Duffield, who is reportedly set to direct.
Siren Head was created by Canadian creature designer Trevor Henderson and is among the most recognizable of the “creepypasta” monsters. It is depicted as a tall, skeletal humanoid with sirens for a head, which broadcasts emergency alerts and distorted voices.
Cregger will also serve as a producer on the film alongside his Weapons partners Roy Lee and Andrew Childs from Vertigo Entertainment. Up next for Cregger is his highly awaited adaptation of Capcom’s Resident Evil franchise, which premieres on September 18.
