Mike Mignola is returning to Hellboy in Hell with two new series.

Legendary comic creator Mike Mignola, along with Dark Horse Comics, is bringing Hellboy back to Hell this winter with two new series: Hellboy in Hell: Nothing But Blood, featuring Mignola and artist Cyrille Pomès (Moon), and Hellboy in Hell: Parade of Horrors, which includes Mignola and artist Márk László (Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: Time is a River).

"I hadn’t intended to revisit Hellboy’s Hell — I never imagined I would let anyone else into that space. However, I admire Márk’s work, and when we met, he expressed interest in creating a story set there. How could I refuse?" Mignola explained. "Fortunately, there were some significant gaps between the chapters I illustrated, and I thought Márk would enjoy working with those two deceased soldiers we encounter in 'The Three Gold Whips' — and he certainly did! I only provided him with a basic story outline, and he built from there. As the narrative developed, we discovered opportunities to introduce more of the location's history. Every time I believe we’ve reached a conclusion, it seems we uncover a few more elements to investigate, which I suppose is a positive outcome."

"Since reading Hellboy in Hell, Mike’s interpretation of the place (Hell) has always struck me as an exciting, visually rich playground: the dark landscapes, the desolate villages, and the array of characters lurking within," László noted. "When I discussed potential projects with Mike, I was eager to create a story set in that environment. To my joy, he identified a gap between two of his original chapters where I could expand the narrative, and it developed from there. It consists of themes I’m thrilled to illustrate: Hellboy navigating through parading demons, dancing skeletons, bloody confrontations, and I was even able to depict glimpses of the history tied to this version of Hell."

In the story, Hellboy intervenes to rescue a young woman being pursued by flying beasts amidst a rebellion against the mightiest demons. Yet, everything — and everyone — is not as they appear.

Following the events of Hellboy in Hell: Nothing But Blood, Hellboy goes in search of a drink but instead finds himself in a cemetery, just in time to see a grim procession commemorating Satan’s demise. Not all demons are pleased to see him after their Lord’s assassination. This gruesome celebration in the depths of Pandemonium will introduce readers to a terrifying array of new characters haunting the sacred halls of Hell and will send Hellboy on a fresh adventure into the surreal realms of Mike Mignola’s unique interpretation of Hell.

Hellboy in Hell: Nothing But Blood #1 is scheduled for release on October 7, 2026, followed by Hellboy in Hell: Parade of Horrors #1 on December 16, 2026.
