Jeremy Allen White is set to succeed Daniel Craig in DC's Sgt. Rock.
DC Studios is experiencing some casting changes for their Sgt. Rock film directed by Luca Guadagnino, as THR has reported that Daniel Craig will no longer play the lead role. Although a specific reason has not been provided, there are speculations that Craig has become disenchanted with the part and the prospect of collaborating with Guadagnino again following the lackluster performance of awards contender Queer.
Additionally, it's been suggested that Craig might be dealing with scheduling issues involving his wife, actress Rachel Weisz. While nothing has been officially confirmed, Guadagnino and DC Studios are actively searching for a replacement.
With plans for a summer production start, actor Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) has been mentioned as a potential candidate for the role. Jeff Sneider has indicated that White may be somewhat expensive and has a busy schedule ahead, including his part as Rotta the Hutt in Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu.
Sgt. Rock is being developed by screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes, who previously collaborated with Guadagnino on Challengers and Queer. Guadagnino is experienced in adaptations, having previously directed a remake of the cult classic 1970s horror film Suspiria.
