The Atomfall trailer hints at a post-apocalyptic Lake District.

With the launch of Atomfall just days away, Rebellion has released a new pre-launch trailer that poses the question, “What truth lies beneath?”. This trailer (see below) provides a preview of the various environments and some characters players will encounter in the quarantined area.

Drawing inspiration from the real-life Windscale nuclear incident of the 1950s, Atomfall takes players on a fictionalized journey into a radioactive quarantine zone, where they must solve the mystery surrounding the nearby nuclear power station. To unravel this enigma and escape the quarantine, players will navigate military camps, explore deserted underground bunkers, and inspect ancient pagan ruins.

Players will have the opportunity to traverse the area, engage in conversation with the more amiable locals, and combat the less friendly residents to solve a mystery influenced by a range of classic British sci-fi works, such as The Quatermass Experiment, The Day of the Triffids, and classic Doctor Who. As they venture through the quarantine zone, players may also discover other references to science fiction, as well as elements of folklore and the Cold War.

      Featuring:

      - A single-player survival-action game set in a dark and ominous world.

      - An exploration of a diverse array of environments and locations, meeting the inhabitants of this quarantined area.

      - A variety of ranged and melee combat options to deal with unfriendly inhabitants.

      - The ability to craft items and weapons, scavenge abandoned homes for supplies, and even discover buried treasures using a metal detector.

      - Character development through interactions with NPCs, light RPG mechanics, and skill trees.

Be on the lookout for Atomfall, launching on PC and consoles on March 27th. Both Standard and Deluxe editions are available for pre-order.
