First Teaser Trailer for Julia Ducournau’s Alpha, Scheduled for Release in October 2025
Scheduled for a world premiere today at the Cannes Film Festival, Alpha presents Julia Ducournau with the challenging task of following up on the 2021 Palme d’Or winner, Titane. Featuring Mélissa Boros, Golshifteh Farahani, Tahar Rahim, Emma Mackey, and Finnegan Oldfield, the film has released its first teaser ahead of NEON’s theatrical debut in October 2025.
Here’s a brief synopsis: “Alpha, a troubled 13-year-old, lives with her single mother. Their lives unravel the day she comes home from school with a tattoo on her arm.” The teaser, running just 40 seconds, hints at a family drama with a sinister twist.
“How do you enter the world when everything is in decay? That’s the film's central question,” the director shares with Vanity Fair. “Alpha stems from my affection for this very transitional, uncomfortable space. It relates to the changes in your body, distinct scents, your own environment—navigating between being an animal and a human. I find that incredibly human.”
