Rooster is described as “a comedy set on a college campus that focuses on an author's (Carell) complex relationship with his daughter (Charly Clive).” The series depicts Carell’s character as he checks in on his daughter during her divorce, which is prompted by her husband's affair with a graduate student. He takes on a teaching role where he clashes with his former son-in-law and forms friendships with some of his students, who compare him to the protagonist of his books named Rooster.
The show was developed by Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses, known for Scrubs. In addition to the main cast, it also includes Danielle Deadwyler, Lauren Tsai, Connie Britton, Robby Hoffman, Annie Mumolo, Alan Ruck, and Rory Scovel.
Rooster is set to premiere on March 8th.
