James Gunn unveils Lex Luthor’s battle armor for Man of Tomorrow.

      As production continues on the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, director and co-head of DC Studios, James Gunn, has shared a new image of Lex Luthor's battle suit for the highly anticipated film.

      Lex Luthor is recognized as one of the most brilliant scientists and inventors in the DC universe, a trait demonstrated in Superman when he successfully devised a secret pocket universe that allowed him to travel the globe instantly and prevent Superman and others from opposing him. Despite his intelligence, he cannot physically match Superman and thus invented a battle suit to confront him, which has appeared in various Superman media, including comics, television series, and video games.

      Man of Tomorrow marks the first occasion that Luthor's suit, often powered by Kryptonite, will be depicted in a feature film. Gunn teased the suit's appearance in his announcement of the sequel alongside DC artists Jim Lee, Jorge Jimenez, and Mitch Gerads, but this is the first official image featuring actor Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor in the suit on set.

      While specifics about the plot are limited, Gunn has revealed that Superman and Luthor will form an uneasy alliance to combat Brainiac, one of Superman's most formidable foes, who will also be making his feature debut in this film.

      Man of Tomorrow will see the return of Superman stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Maria Gabriella de Faria as The Engineer, and Milly Alcock as Supergirl. New cast members include Aaron Pierre reprising his Lanterns role as John Stewart/Green Lantern, Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, and Adria Arjona and Matthew Lillard in undisclosed roles.

      Although there is still a year until the release of Man of Tomorrow, fans will have the opportunity to see both David Corenswet and Milly Alcock again in DC Studios' upcoming film, Supergirl, set to premiere on June 26th.
