James Gunn unveils Lex Luthor's battle suit for Man of Tomorrow.
As production continues on the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, director and DC Studios co-head James Gunn has unveiled a new image of Lex Luthor’s battle suit for the much-anticipated film.
Lex Luthor is recognized as one of the most brilliant scientists and inventors within the DC universe. This is exemplified in Superman, where he successfully devised his own secret pocket universe to travel the globe instantaneously and confine Superman and others who oppose him. Despite his considerable intellect, he is unable to physically rival Superman, which led him to develop a battle suit to confront him. This suit has appeared in various forms across Superman media, including comics, television series, and video games.
Man of Tomorrow will be the first feature film to showcase Luthor’s suit, often powered by Kryptonite. Although the suit was initially hinted at in Gunn's announcement of the sequel alongside DC artists Jim Lee, Jorge Jimenez, and Mitch Gerads, this marks the first official image of actor Nicholas Hoult in the suit on the film's set.
While specific plot details remain limited, Gunn has indicated that Superman and Luthor will form a reluctant alliance to confront Brainiac, one of Superman’s most formidable foes, who will also make his feature film debut in this project.
Man of Tomorrow features the return of Superman actors David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Maria Gabriella de Faria as The Engineer, and Milly Alcock as Supergirl. New cast members include Aaron Pierre reprising his role as John Stewart/Green Lantern from Lanterns, Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, and Adria Arjona and Matthew Lillard in undisclosed roles.
While there's still a year to go until Man of Tomorrow's release, fans can see David Corenswet and Milly Alcock again in DC Studios’ upcoming film Supergirl, set to premiere on June 26th.
