Spaceballs: The New One unveils its poster and official summary.
The official poster for the eagerly awaited sequel to Spaceballs, titled Spaceballs: The New One, has been unveiled ahead of the film's presentation in Hall H next week at San Diego Comic-Con International.
The film's Instagram account posted the poster, which references one of the original's most iconic scenes where two Spaceballs literally comb the desert. They also provided details about the Hall H panel at SDCC, scheduled for Friday, July 24th from 4 – 5 PM Pacific Time.
Alongside the poster, an official synopsis has been released that humorously critiques some recent Star Wars films and various sequels, reboots, and remakes that Hollywood has produced over the years. Notably, Star Wars is a focal point of the parody, with the synopsis jokingly stating:
Somehow, Dark Helmet has returned! Forty years after the first Spaceballs and fifty years after Star Wars: A New Hope, as well as one year post The Devil Wears Prada 2, the galaxy is once again in peril. A danger so sinister, so relentless, and so utterly devoid of original ideas, it has pledged to resurrect the past… every last bit of it.
With Lone Starr in hiding, Queen Vespa on the throne, and the Schwartz stretched thinner than a franchise releasing theatrical TV episodes, the galaxy's only hope rests with Vespa's unruly son, Prince Starburst, and a mysterious Palace advisor named Destiny. Together, they must track down Lone Starr, Yogurt, and other beloved legacy characters demanded by fans before they learn the hard way that, while some threats can be battled, the reboot is not one of them.
Spaceballs: The New One will be directed by Josh Greenbaum (Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar) from a screenplay written by Josh Gad, Dan Hernandez, and Benji Samit. Returning from the original classic are Mel Brooks as Yogurt and President Skroob, Rick Moranis, coming out of retirement to reprise Lord Dark Helmet, Bill Pullman as Lone Starr, Daphne Zuniga as Queen Vespa, and George Wyner as Colonel Sandurz.
New cast members for Spaceballs: The New One include Lewis Pullman as Starburst, the son of Lone Starr and Vespa, Keke Palmer as Destiny, and Josh Gad and Anthony Carrigan in undisclosed roles.
Spaceballs: The New One is set to hit theaters in April 2027.
