La collezione completa di Zombie Tales di Boom Studios è un'ampia antologia ricca di oltre 40 storie ambientate dopo l'apocalisse zombi. Potrebbe sembrare un sacco di non morti da affrontare, ma la bellezza di questa raccolta risiede nella sua varietà, non solo nella narrazione, ma anche nel tono e nello stile artistico.
Ci sono molte storie pensate per un pubblico vasto. Alcune sono toccanti e commoventi, mentre altre sono semplicemente strazianti. Ci sono anche alcune che sono assolutamente bizzarre, ma nel modo migliore, mescolando idee strane ai tropi dei zombie e vedendo cosa funziona. C'è un vero spirito di sperimentazione da parte degli autori in questa raccolta, che spesso dà i suoi frutti.
A livello visivo, c’è una enorme varietà anche nell'arte. Alcune storie presentano uno stile morbido e dettagliato, mentre altre sono grezze e piene di espressione. Questa variazione nello stile artistico funziona bene, dando a ogni storia un’identità propria e mantenendo la freschezza in tutta la raccolta. Anche se i temi si sovrappongono, come spesso accade nelle storie di zombie, nessuna delle narrazioni sembra uguale alle altre grazie alla gamma di stili artistici.
Quello che ho apprezzato è quanto carattere ed emozione questi brevi racconti riescano a trasmettere nello spazio disponibile. Ogni storia offre allo spettatore scorci di mondi ben sviluppati e personaggi approfonditi, talvolta in appena mezza dozzina di pagine. Leggendo, si ha la forte impressione che alcuni autori si siano divertiti a spingere i confini di cosa può essere la narrativa zombi, senza mai perdere di vista l’orrore al suo centro.
Se cerchi una storia semplice e unica, questa probabilmente non è il fumetto che fa per te. Ma se ti piace il racconto di zombie con una buona dose di creatività e qualche schiaffo emotivo, Zombie Tales offre tutto questo in abbondanza. È una scelta eccellente per gli appassionati di horror che apprezzano cuore e cervelli nella loro narrativa zombie.
Valutazione: 8/10 – Questa raccolta di storie di zombie ti farà essere felice di essere vivo
