Matthew Modine becomes part of the Monsterverse's Godzilla x Kong sequel.
Another star from *Stranger Things*, Matthew Modine, has been cast in Legendary’s Monsterverse for the upcoming sequel to *Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire*. The film will be directed by Grant Sputore, who will work from a script by Dave Callaham. This sequel will continue the franchise's focus on Godzilla, Kong, and a variety of other Titans, introducing new human characters who will collaborate with Godzilla and Kong to avert another apocalyptic danger to the planet.
Modine joins a cast that features Dan Stevens returning to his role as Trapper, a veterinarian with expertise in Titans, alongside newcomers Kaitlyn Dever, Jack O’Connell, and Delroy Lindo. He is the second actor from *Stranger Things* to enter the monster franchise, following Millie Bobby Brown's appearances in *Godzilla: King of the Monsters* and *Godzilla vs. Kong*.
The film, which has yet to be titled, marks the next chapter in Legendary’s Monsterverse, which began with the 2014 film *Godzilla* and has evolved to the showdown between Godzilla and King Kong in *Godzilla vs. Kong*. Legendary has also extended the franchise to television with the Apple TV+ series *Monarch: Legacy of Monsters*, which serves as both a prequel and a continuation of the first *Godzilla* film in the Monsterverse. Last year, Apple renewed *Monarch* for a second season and announced plans for multiple additional spinoff series.
