Pamela Anderson nearly took on the role of Anna Nicole Smith in Naked Gun 33 1/3.

      Following last year's The Last Showgirl, Pamela Anderson is set to continue her film comeback next month as she appears alongside Liam Neeson in the reboot/legacy sequel The Naked Gun, a casting choice that seems to have been in the works for over 30 years.

      In an interview with Empire to promote the forthcoming film, Anderson shared that her initial encounter with Police Squad! occurred during her early days on Baywatch, where she could have starred alongside the original Frank Drebin Sr., portrayed by the iconic Leslie Nielsen.

      “The role that Anna Nicole played, I was almost cast for,” Anderson mentioned, referring to Anna Nicole Smith’s character Tanya Peters from Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult. “It was simply a scheduling conflict. I couldn’t take it. But I’m glad: I prefer to take on this role instead.”

      Regarding her current role, the new film will feature Anderson as Beth, a femme fatale who seeks help from Liam Neeson’s Frank Drebin, Jr. and the Police Squad! after her brother is killed. You can watch the trailer here before the film comes out on August 1st.

      Directed by Akiva Schaffer from The Lonely Island (Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers), The Naked Gun features a cast that includes Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Danny Huston, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, Eddie Yu, Busta Rhymes, Michael Bisping, and Moses Jones.

      The Naked Gun is scheduled for release on August 1st, 2025.
